I was a soft drink salesman for nearly 40 years in southern Indiana, and was friends with several Chesty salesmen over the years. I recall when they were so strong, but as the years went by, they lost so much business, due to Frito-Lays 'space buy-out' programs. Story I was told, is they combined businesses with Seyferts brand chips. And because Chesty was union, and Seyferts being non union, all their combined products were combined under the Seyferts brand. The end for Chesty. If you want to blame anyone, because you cannot find your 'favorite brands' from your childhood, then put the blame on Frito Lay. Their strategy to go in a retail account, and 'buy' all the space in the store, has put all your old favorites out of business. Frito Lay is owned by Pepsico, so that is why you are limited to soft drink brands in the retail market, that are only sold by Pepsi. Coke does as best they can to compete. All the independent soft drink companies have been nearly forced out of business.
