They used to be made by dolly madison. Now they are made by hostess.

Went to elementary school with a girl who brought the vanilla Zingers in her lunch EVERY DAY! She never got tired of them. They were pretty good.

They have changed. I bought a 3 pack of vanila Zingers and it was not the same as my youth. The frosting used to be a thick yellowish. The frosting now is whitish and the cake is not the same. Bummer.....

The only time we saw commercials for Zingers around here was during the Charlie Brown specials.

ZINGERS, my favorite Dolly Madison treat, especially devil's food flavor. They were first offered in 1970,and for over 25 years, endorsed by Charlie Brown and company. A commercial from 1977 was the funniest: Snoopy wore a mask, as the "Zinger Zapper." At the end, when Snoopy zipped across the screen, the cartoon Dolly Madison head made a strange face and said, WHEW!!"

I always found it frustrating that they were shown during Peanuts specials but werent available anyplace where my mom shopped. I substituted Hostess fruit pies to munch during the specials (always on a Tuesday night). It was a tradition that lasted for decades.Time to time ,I'll still pop in a Peanuts DVD and munch a fruit pie and the occasional Malt liquor 40

Loved Zingers! Chocolate, Vanilla, Coconut Raspberry...yummy! I have a funny story about these. Back in the days before kids had to sit in car seats, or even before people were required to wear seat belts, I used to go downtown to work w/ my dad and to his friend's house later. On the way home on the freeway, I would be sitting in the front seat, when someone would cut my dad off. He'd slam on the brakes, and I'd smack my head on the glove compartment. He'd always stop me from crying by promsing me a "Buster Brown". LOL! That was dad-speak for Zingers, since they had CHARLIE Brown on the wrapper. He would make me promise not to tell Mom, (but I always did). But I still got my Zingers!
