Description
I remember it came in Chocolate with Choc. frosting, Yellow cake with choc.frosting, and lemon cake with lemon frosting. In one box would be the cake podwer mix, a bag of the frosting, and a hard paper baking pan. You would add your own oil and egg with water to the mix, right in the baking pan, and then squeeze the frosting onto the cake. My friend and I went through countless Stir N' Frost's every week while watching "Diff'rent Strokes"- lol!

This was the ultimate Brady Bunch snack for me. They later came out with a microwave version but never as good as the original. I too wish they still had these available. Perfect size and no fuss. Also liked the similar Snackin'Cakes. Just add water!

manoman, I forgot all about these. They were actually pretty good, and the process was fun, even for this kid who knew how to make "real" cakes amnd frostings from scratch. These were pretty tasty. This all refers to the original, non-microwave version.

Woohoo! Thank you! I had been cracking my brain forever trying to think of what these were called. Of course we thought they were pure magic. I remember my Mom making them for adult get togethers and she made one for the kids.

Does anyone remember the commercial for these? where the mom is walking to the dinner table with a big, beautiful, 2-layer, round frosted cake and then dad, son and daughter (think "leave it to beaver" or "father knows Best") all excalim in a very critical tone, "Oh, Mom! You made too much cake!" boy if i was that mother i sure would have shown them what too much cake tasted like!!!

I wish I could see the tv ad again, as the cake appeared in the mom's hand, the man sitting in the background would belch, you could see his cheeks puff up. I guess no one ever saw that during editing. As a kid, my friends and I would laugh every time.

This was the best cake and frosting and still would be if they continued to sell it. Now that I have my own little one, the size and convenience of this recipe would have been perfect. I still crave the frosting...so I even contacted Betty Crocker with the hope that it was sold somewhere. No such luck.
