Description
It was like lemonade in a can. I remember the song "Whenever I want to quench my thirst, I feel like a Quirst !"

I wish I could find the old commercials...the guy crawling across the desert.....finding an Oasis (bar) type place....going in and ordering either "dry tortilla chips" or "crackers"...then opening his briefcase/saddlebags and downing a Quirst.....

I remember that commercial like it was yesterday. We couldn't get Quirst up here in Canada so whenever we went to the U.S., I'd grab a six-pack!

Quirst was sold in Newfoundland back in the early 1980's. I assume it was sold in eastern Canada as well. It was lemonade in a can. Teem was just a Sprite clone.

I remember Quirst; although nobody else I know does. It was the best.

I worked for the Ad agency Leo Burnett that had the 7-Up account at the time, Quirst was introducd in 1978 as a lemonade drink and by 1980 it was off the shelves as a permanent injuction was granted after Squirt sued 7-Up for infringement becuase the Quirst brand name was too similar to Squirt. I have the commercials on 3/4" U-matic and a few empty cans somewhere. It was awful tasting, more like alka seltzer than lemonade.

The Bay Area Radio Museum website has an aircheck from June 1978 (station KFRC, DJs Beverly Fox and Rick Shaw) which includes a Quirst advertisement.

Quirst was the best! It came in a bunch of different flavors and it was much cheaper than Sprite and Coke. Huge part of my childhood!
