I was the Hawaiian Dancer on the Kellogg's Puffa Puffa Rice Breakfast Cereal Commercial - in the 1960's, shot in Hawaii - (On YouTube). I was just on the "Finale" of America's Got Talent - Season 3 - as one of the "Audition All Stars", October 1, 2008 (On YouTube). I was in the Red Dress Juggling with my Poi Balls from Hawaii and Dancing - with a High-Kick, Show-Girl Floor-Work, Upside-Down Splits and Exercise Gymnastics. I would love to do another commercial for Kellogg's. Love, Anita Aloha

I used to eat a whole box at a time of this cereal. To this day, I always tell people it was by far my favorite cereal. Why it was discontinued is beyond me, it was always sold out at our supermarkets.

I still remember this commercial very well. I can't remember where I put my keys, or anything elsse important, but I can still sing this in the right key word for word. The mind is a terrible thing to waste.

This was my all-time favorite cereal, and I've told my kids about it many times. I think I can even still sing the theme song! It was one of the very few cereals that I didn't put sugar on... and I put sugar on EVERYTHING! Bring it back for a new generation to enjoy! We should start a petition; there's one online for Smores Cereal.

I loved this too and it was nearly always sold out at the local supermarket when my mum went shopping. There are several pages about this on the web and I am surprised they aren't attempting a reintroduction or retrial.

Loved puffa puffa rice as a girl. The cereal boxes had pictures of the Monkees and you could cut the picture from the box for pin ups.

This was my FAVORITE cereal of all time!!! I got lucky in 1982, I was shopping in a warehouse-type supermarket and came across one lone box high up on a shelf, I was stunned!! I ate the entire box for supper that night. Apparently they didn't quit making it as early as everyone thought. I haven't seen it since, I keep hoping and looking though :)

One of my all timefavorites as a child. i guess it was comparable to sugar smacks or super sugar crisp. The cover I remember was the kids in the canoe and later the train.

Kellogg's PUFFA PUFFA RICE had a semi-sweet flavor similar to Nabisco Rice Puffs. I believe PUFFA PUFFA RICE was discontinued by 1971. I have two different commercials, with the Hawaiian hula girls, from network kinescopes of "Gilligan's Island (CBS, 1966)," and "The Monkees (NBC, 1967)."

Found another Puffa Puffa Rice TV ad (no hula girls in this one) from late 1969. Banana Splits hand puppets were inside boxes of this, and Froot Loops. Snorky was the elusive one, making it tough to collect all four. The ad first aired on "H.R. Pufnstuf" the Saturday morning, 10/25/69, NBC-TV.

Found a variant TV commercial with different hula girls and a shot of Diamond Head among the scenes. This aired on the spaceman/caveman sitcom, "It's About Time," over CBS (3/12/67). Oddly, this obscure, one-season series is now on Antenna TV Sunday mornings

On the Chicago scene: Found TV commercial block for Kellogg's. First, Sugar Pops with the whip-cracking cowboy. Second, Puffa Puffa rice with natives rowing Hawaiian canoe and hula girls. This aired on "Bozo's Circus" over WGN in March, 1968. Original cast of Bob Bell (Bozo), Ray Rayner (Oliver), Don Sandburg as Sandy the Tramp and ringmaster Ned Locke. Grand Prize Game and a Bozo cartoon shown within the hour (a noon CT telecast.

On back of a 1969 Puffa Puffa Rice box, a mail-in offer of four Banana Splits wall posters for a dollar and a box top. Individual posters of Fleegle (overweight beagle), Bingo (gorilla), Drooper (lion with mangy mane) and Snorky (mute elephant), all with mod background designs (like "Laugh-In"). Also, Canadian Puffa Puffa Rice boxes with a train locomotive instead of Hawaiian volcano. From England, Sooty, a cuddly stuffed bear, on box.

From the Saturday morning cartoon vault, Puffa Puffa Rice with new box design, cartoon Hawaiian boy and girl paddle canoe in front of volcano. Inside box, one of four different color yo-yos. This aired on "Scooby Doo" over CBS (1/24/70). Other commercials for Topper Toys (Johnny Lightning cars), Kellogg's Frosted Flakes with Dick Dastardly and Vulture Squadron, with info on sending in for membership kit. Also, Pop Tarts. Network promos for "Archie Comedy Hour" ("Jingle Jangle" song teaser) and "Monkees."

From the Saturday morning cartoon vault, Dick Dastardly and his Vulture Squadron promote a mail-in offer for a Dastardly toy airplane with telescope. 50c and a cereal box top for it. An unassembled kit with decals and instructions (no glue needed). Puffa Puffa Rice, Frosted Flakes and Apple Jacks among participants. This aired on "Perils of Penelope Pitstop" over CBS (12/13/69). Kellogg's Raisin Bran, Twister Game, Life game (Milton Bradley) and Hasbro Rub-On sets also sponsored. Network promos for "Scooby Doo" and "Archie Comedy Hour."

From the prime time TV vault, a sweepstakes commercial for Puffa Puffa Rice. Top prizes included a duplicate of The Monkees dune buggy and trips to Hawaii via American Airlines. This aired on "Monkees" over NBC (4/3/67). Episode song was "Little Bit You, Little Bit Me." Also, Apple Jacks with the apple-headed cartoon guy. All Monkees for Kellogg's Rice Krispies. Mike Nesmith and Davy Jones appear for Yardley Black Label men's cologne, where a lady passes up Mike, but goes for Davy because he slapped on cologne. Also, Yardley facial cosmetics for women. Network promo for "Man From UNCLE."

From the prime time TV vault, an Aztec soldier orders two boys to pour raw rice into a volcano. Seconds later, it erupts, and honey flavored rice (Puffa Puffa) bursts out. The soldier shares a box with a Hawaiian boy, in coconut shell bowls. This aired during "Monkees" pn NBC (4/3/67). Kellogg's Pop Tarts, Frosted Flakes and Raisin Bran on the show, along with Yardley eye shadow and eyelash enhancer. Network promo for "Captain Nice." Julie Newmar discarded her Catwoman costume to appear in this episode. She played April, owner of a laundromat whom all four Monkees vie for her affection. Fickle April plays them on with disastrous results. In each of the 57 regular stories, the kooky Monkees always find themselves interacting with the "other people" who turn out weirder than themselves. A great series, but more than the two seasons would've been stretching things, especially with Peter Tork out of the group.

To Rob Lambert: You say you've found different TV ads for Puffa Puffa Rice cereal with "different hula girls." Was one of those hula dancers a little girl? I've been trying to find that ad on the internet for several years, because I've always had a big crush on that little girl. Even today, I still can't get her out of my mind. So far, I've haven't been able to find that ad online, and I've tried everything. Could you possibly send me that ad, either through a text message, or a Gmail message? If you could do the latter, you'll need my Gmail address, which is mpalmierigrancia@gmail.com. If it's a text message, all you'll need is my name, which is at the top of this comment. If you want to send it via "snail mail," my address is the following: 9431 S.W. 1st Place Boca Raton, FL. 33428 If you want to call me, my cellphone number is (561) 503-5940. (I don't have a landline phone number.) I'd really appreciate it, Rob, if you can do this favor for me. Thank you, and God bless you.
