I'm trying to figure out if they still sell those little peanut butter stars. They came in a white box with a cellophane front (like Xmas ornaments come in). The box had red writing on it, and I seem to remember the name Ferrera Pan. Hard to tell, since I was 5! Anyone know what I'm talking about?

My absolute fave when I was a kid outside of Boston. I loved the red box (choc chip), with the cat drawn on the cookie, and the brown/black box (chcoclate), with the mouse face. Oh, where is this good stuff with all the real sugar and no HFCS, which tastes like crap!!! Love this site

Gosh so miss those box of chocolate chip cookies with the cat ears and whiskers drawn over the cookie on the box. I'm craving them as type. How they come to such an idiot decision to discontinue the sale of these cookies. I love some other Nabisco cookies but have been completely satisfied wit Nabisco since I ate my last bite of these super delicious cookies. Being a nurse student I find my self snacking more these cookies would be so great right now.

It's too funny, my baby sister was just asking me about these mini chocolate chip cookies she remembered eating as a young girl, it came in a box similar in size to the animal crackers. Well, she googled it and it was called "Chocolate chip snaps" 2 3/4 oz box. Made by Nabisco. The box was red with white. Also the cookie had a cat face drawn on it. Let's all write to the company and ask of they will bring them back. Power in number folks! Do it now. Thanks all.

Nabisco Chocolate Chip Cookies in the smaller box which sold for twenty cents. The oddity of this is: Why Nabisco did a self-compete against its own (more popular) Chips Ahoy? These did taste a bit different, were textured differently, and had fewer chips that Chips Ahoy. I recall seeing these between 1975 and 1980, then Nabisco moved on to new products. For cookie buffs, I don't have any TV commercials for the 1970s Chocolate Chip small boxes. However, I have an early Chips Ahoy ad, featuring Cookie Man fighting a weird sea monster, from an episode of the "Road Runner" cartoon show (1/14/67, CBS). Charles should have a Chips Ahoy page here.

Please.... bring back the chocolate dark brown box and the chocolate chips with the cat face on it from back in the day, around 1970's and 1980's. They were nothing but the truth and I honestly believe Nabisco lost a fortune discontinuing them. They were my best friends until the end. Please know I'm someone who was truly disappointed when they were discontinue.

It would be fantastic if Nabisco brought these cookies back. They were my favotite..my mom always bought me a box when we went food shopping. My favorite was the chocolate cookie but I loved the chocolate chip as well. It has to be the original receipe though if Nabisco brings it back.
John - October 11, 2012 - Report this comment
If you want to taste the old chocolate cookie snap in the square little box all you have to do is buy a box of the Nabisco chocolate wafers (used to make like ice box cake) in the yellow box. The recipe is so close you think your eating your childhood cookies again. It even has bits of coconut in them just like the chocolate snaps.

Rob Lambert - May 24, 2014 - Report this comment
Craig: YES!! Especially the ads with Cookie Man from the Saturday morning cartoon shows (circa 1967), including "Road Runner" and "Super President/Spy Shadow." Cookie Man emerged from a phone booth, floating in a bay, and fought oversized (costumed) sea monsters and the like. A W.C. Fields impersonator narrated each adventure.

Diva E: You need to contact Kraft Foods. That company now carries Nabisco products. The toll-free number is: 1-800-431-1003. Direct questions to Consumer Products,or possibly, Product Development. You may have better luck convincing them to revive Chocolate Chip, Ginger Snaps and the like, than some of us had trying to revive Great Shakes.

Hi Nabisco. I think you should bring back the snap cookies because everyone grow up on them. So good. Nabisco would make a whole lot of money off those cookies because they were so good. I remember all the flavors. Chocolate,Vanilla,Chocolate Chip,Lemon. The color of the boxes and the animal face on the cookies were cute. These were a hit. Just maybe even bringing back for a limited time only. Do they still have the recipe. We miss them.

well, brought up in mom and pop store and can tell you that those small snap cookies also came in lemon also ginger. In those days they made a lesser priced cookie break sandwich that we broke the sleeves open and sold fro a penny apiece. the vanilla cookie break were very close to the discontinued baronet which was probably their best vanilla sandwich ever. the new coconut oreo is a decent replacement. Why did they stop the Swiss also except vending style. The Dare Co.'s coconut creme is about addicting as it getsalthough the creme is a knockout the cookies a bit thick. Geez the days of Orbit cremes and the dark dark chocolate grahams. What is Nabisco thinking. The baronet got discontinued so early you could only get 3 in the famous cookie asst. that looked like a monopoly box. there were also a mayfair asstment that an english fling and a pride that were all sandwich asst.Social tea made a creme for awhile. Back then the "Snaps you folks were talking about had a 15 cent prepriced tab on them.

In the Chicago Tribune from March, 1971, a mail-in premium tied to the first airing of "Dr. Seuss's Cat In the Hat" special on CBS (3/10/71), sponsored by Nabisco. A toddler-sized inflatable (vinyl) Cat In the Hat armchair for a dollar and portions of plastic wrap from two Nabisco cookie products. Like this, most of the early Dr. Seuss cartoons were produced at MGM Studios. In the end credits, you'd first see The Cat (raising eyebrows), then the roaring MGM lion. Comedian Allan Sherman voiced The Cat (then died two years later, age 48).

From the daytime TV vault, a commercial that served as precursor to Nabisco's Chips Ahoy. Simply called Chocolate Chip cookies. A boy and girl split a cookie, then try to reach the package on kitchen counter. Mother catches them. This aired during the teen-oriented soap opera "Never Too Young" on ABC (9/28/65). Ritz crackers, Chooz aspirin, Snowy Bleach and One A Day vitamins among other sponsors. Network promos for "F Troop" and "Where the Action Is." Dick Clark and "Action" dancers Steve and Joy Ciro (cousins) appear to announce their show's new air time (after "NTY"). Months later, Joy was wed to Righteous Brother Bob Hatfield. The marriage lasted short of three years, producing two kids. Joy left "Action" early in 1966 when pregnancy began.
