Grew up in the 70's and Mystic Mints were referred to, in my family, as "favorite Cookies". I don't understand why nabisco doesn't sell them any more
Leah - January 31, 2011 - Report this comment
Has anyone thought of writing to Nabisco or sending them an email, they might just write back and tell you where you can find them or if enough people ask , they might bring it back on a trial basis.

I just found a link to Martha Stewart's recipe for a cookie that people claim to taste just like Mystic Mints.I hope you'll like it. http://www.marthastewart.com/photogallery/glazed-and-iced-cookie-recipes?xsc=eml_cod_2011_01_30#slide_14

My husband and I just found what we think are the best thing closest to Mystic Mints. Moon Pies in mint....they have a crunchy cookie in them. HOnest. They are wonderful! We tried to eat the oreos that some people swore were just as good and well.....we didn't think so. In fact we now have a box of oreos sitting right here on the computer table...not sure what to do with it.

The new Oreos fudge cremes (in mint) are similiar in flavor to mystic mints.

I am going to visit my daughter in Denver next week & I will check out the store in Boulder that someone said still carries them.I tried the Oreo brand & they do NOT taste anything like the mystic's!!If I find them I will repost in Dec.2011.

Aren't the Girl Scout Thin Mints, just like the Mystic Mints ?! I think they are : )
Lindy - February 19, 2012 - Report this comment
GS thin mints are a single cookie covered in mint flavored chocolate. The mystic mint was a chocolate sandwich cookie with mint filling covered in chocolate.
Roger - August 10, 2012 - Report this comment
The problem, Connie, is saying that the GS mint cookies are similar is like saying you're not pregnant, after having the baby. Or that a Cadillac is the same as a Rolls Royce.
Katie - February 20, 2013 - Report this comment
My mom kept saying the words "Mystic Mint," "Mystic Mint" and kept thinking that the Girl Scout cookies were called that. I finally looked it up and all her memories and tastebuds came flooding back! It took her back to days where she would purchase a box for herself. She's curious if anyone knows where to get the Mystic Mint!

Mystic Mints were made by Nabisco.

My husband and I used to get Mystic Mint cookies in the late 70's-early 80's. I don't know exactly when they disappeared. We'd get a box, stare each other down and declare which half of the box belonged to which of us. No snitching from the other half! We'd read and eat our box of Mystic Mint Cookies in one sitting. It was wonderful and I think of them longingly.

Mystic Mint cookies were the best. So many people seem to like them and want them back, I don't know why Nabisco won't bring them back. Oreo made a similar cookie for a while, it was a fudge dipped mint Oreo cookie that was very good but they have replaced that with a single layer cookie topped with a mint cream layer and dipped in chocolate. Not the same.

Yes! I remember Mystic Mint cookies well, they were my favorites as a kid, and I believe they were made well into the '90s or early 2000's. Haven't seen them in years. They were like an oreo coated generously with dark chocolate. I couldn't stop eating them.
ElegantButler - August 30, 2015 - Report this comment
I remember one time I opened a Mystic Mint cookie and discovered they used Oreos to make them. The cookie inside was inside out on one side and when I licked the filling out it said "oreo" right on the cookie. Perhaps that's why?

Mystic Mints were my favorite cookie! I now love the Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate Covered Peppermint Joe Joe's, available during the holiday season. Stock up and hide them in the back of your fridge. They will bring back memories!

Try taking 2 gold emblem fudge dipped mint cookies and place a peppermint patty between the two cookies like a sandwich. Place in microwave for 10 seconds. Just enough to soften not melt. Let cool and enjoy!

Costco has their Kirkland Fudge Mint Cookies, only available during the Holiday season. They are the closest to Mystic Mints that I’ve found. Stock up! They sell quick at my Costco.

I also grew up loving Mystic Mint cookies. There is a new fudge-covered Oreo with mint creme filling that seem to be exactly like the Mystic Mints I remember. Could be the same cookie from Nabisco, but with the Oreo name. The name "Oreo" probably sells better than "Mystic Mint." Straight from the fridge is definitely the way to eat them. :)

I'm sure I'm not the only person who did this, but back in the 70s if you licked the chocolate coating off of Mystic Mints, you would find that the chocolate cookies used were Oreos. That being said, I just bought a box of the new fudge covered mint Oreos and they are not quite the same. I seem to remember that MMs had a dark chocolate coating; the new ones are milk chocolate covered and the filling is less "minty" than MMs. I find them disappointing and probably won't buy them again.

My all time favorite store bought cookie. I loved to have them with hot tea in the evening. I didnt know they stopped making them, I just thought they were hard to find. Cookie selection in the stores here in Austin is pathetic these days.

My girlfriend and I would make a tradition of freezing the Mystic Mints and, about an hour before our planned pig-out, putting a half gallon of milk in the freezer as well. Icy cold milk with frozen MMS in summer was magnificent....on a snowy day in Lake Tahoe, it was brilliant! I miss them more that I can express.......

Craving Mystic Mints tonight! Just can't get over not being able to get them anymore! Nothing like them exists today!
Dean - October 29, 2022 - Report this comment
The fudge covered Oreos weren't bad, but they don't carry them around here anymore. Started buying mint Oreos and melting chocolate chips in the microwave and spooning it over the cookies. Use parchment paper so they don't stick. Pretty good.
