As a kid, I was impatient and would not heat them in the oven as instructed. I'd gnaw on the frozen cream center while watching Saturday morning cartoons. I warmed the sugar donuts and honey buns, but for some reason ate the Bavarian cream donuts frozen.

When I was a kid growing up in New Jersey, my Grandmother prepare these by warming them up simply on plate on top of the old stove. Seemed like she new exactly when I wanted one !...that was in the 70s and 80s....
