Description
I remember different fruit-flavoured chips, particularily grape on the market for a limited time. (Probably because they were not pleasant AT ALL.) I believe they were Humpty Dumpty. No one else at work can remember them, though, and they think I'm making it up!

I remember them. There were grape, cherry, and maybe orange. I remember thinking at the time "I should buy a bag of these, so I can have it in 10 years." I wish I had.

I remember them too! In western Canada they were made by the Hostess company.

In the mid-1970s Hostess decided to expand their lineup and introduced three new flavours, Orange, Cherry and Grape. The attempt was a dismal failure, and the products disappeared from stores only a few months later. The products were so poorly received they remain a topic of derision to this day. Newer introductions followed, starting with the popular Sour Cream and Onion shortly after the fruit flavours disappeared. This was a huge success, and was followed by a series of other now-common flavours such as Dill Pickle and Ketchup. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hostess_Chips

Our family was on vacation in Toronto when I saw the grape and orange chips but didn't buy a bag. I figured I'd just pick up a bag when we got back to Thompson, Manitoba..... they never made it to Thompson and I'm still upset I didn't get to try them.

I can remember K-Mart having so many bags of these chips, they were getting rid of them for a dime a bag. Sooooo gross

It was in 1978 and my family was moving from BC to Newfoundland. We stopped to visit family along the way in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. This is whee I recall the only time ever tasting orange flavoured and grape flavoured chips. Not one amongst us liked the new flavours and glad product met its quick demise.
