This was good gum! It felt like having a bag full of gold nuggets... that tasted good.

They still make it. Now it comes in a pouch still, but it is also in a plastic bag inside that you have to open first, and the size of the bag is much smaller, like everything else these days. I also remember gum that came in a large plastic flip top tooth. Similar to Gold Nugget, but many colors and flavors instead of just yellow. I used to seperate all the different candy coated pieces into little piles and eat the flavors seperately. Back in the 70's a small ice cream like truck used to drive around the town like an ice cream truck, except it was full of candy. You used to be able to walk around inside of it and choose your candy. That is where we used to get this gum. Then I think the driver was accused of molesting children in it and they stopped making deliveries.

Gold Rush was one of my faves. They have Gold Nugget now. I've never had it but the white cloth pouch looks pretty much the same.

The gum was called Big Tooth gum, I think.

Here's the breakdown on these gold-candied bubble gum nuggets: First was Gold Rush by Topps (1971). Second, Gold Rocks (Fleer/Dubble Bubble, 1972). Third, Gold Nuggets (possibly Donruss, 1973). They all looked and tasted about the same. They priced at a dime to 15 cents a pouch.
