We bought these alot for many years because my mother and I liked them. I know they were sold in maryland but dont know about other areas. They came in an orange box with a gray elephant on the label. As I recall they taste exactly like the peanut butter cookies called Do Si Dos. Did they sell the recipie to the the Girl Scouts or something?

My best memory of Gauchos is when we lived in Germany. We called them castle cookies because Mom always had these in her giant purse when we went touring around Germany & Austria.
