Description
I think the name was dots, they were chewy and round at the top and flat on the bottom. I remember that inside the box was a plastic colored mermaid.

I think you are referring to the gumdrops called "Dots". These small gumdrop candies were made by a company called "Heidi", and came in a variety of fruit flavors: cherry, orange, lemon, lime. They are round and have a flat botton. As far as I know, they are still on the market and still enjoy by children and adults.

The Mason-Magenheimer Confectionary Company introduced Dots in 1946, the company from Brooklyn, New York. Tootsie Roll acquired rights to produce this candy in 1972, still using the Mason brand. You'd get about ten drops in a 1 1/2-oz. box. These are gelatin gum drops loaded with sugar.
