Description
Square chocolate bar with raisins and nuts. The better part of an inch thick, and about the size of a Post-It note. Divided into 4 parts so you didn't choke yourself trying to put the whole thing in your mouth at once.

These were my second favorite candy bar as a kid - no one else in my family liked them, so it was a rare treat for me. The other day I was in CVS, saw Chunky Bars and just about crapped my pants! LOL Needless to say, I bought a bunch of them and now I know where to get more! Yippee!

This was my first taste of candy when I was 3. My Mom didn't let me have candy just icecream and maybe cookies, but no candy! So one day when my Dad came home from work I ran outside to meet him in the driveway and he popped a piece of a Chunky Bar in my mouth and my eyes rolled to the back of my head and I just went nuts. From that day on I would meet my Dad in the driveway with my eyes closed and and my mouth open! :)

I still remember the TV commercials. Chunka Chunk big Chunk, CHUNKY. OPEN WIDE FOR CHUNKY. With the raisins, you could even claim that it was healthy for you.

A New York candy maker named Silverstein created Chunky in 1937. For 47 years, the Wrigley Gum company distributed, then Nestle acquired rights to Chunky in 1984. Only minor changes occurred over the years.

Anyone remember a 70s TV commercial with Judy Carne (from LaughIn) for Chunky? She was singing and dancing on top of a giant chunky.

On the Chicago scene. From January, 1971, a Chunky commercial featuring "Laugh-In" alum Judy Carne. She does a song-and-dance promoting both regular and almond bars. This aired during "Beat the Clock" on WGN-TV, Ch. 9. The first two seasons of "Beat the Clock" were wilder. Host Jack Narz be seen hopping all over, egging on the contestants to hustle in doing stunts. The game area had more psychedelic colors and lots of circles. Later seasons, the walls were gray, and Narz somewhat mellower. Actor Jesse White was the week's celebrity guest stuntman. WGN aired "Beat the Clock" weekdays at 3:30 CT (1969-71).
