Description
Came out during the 1970's and I recall my mom buying those constantly. I think there was a chocolate w/chocolate filling, but the flavor I recall mainly is the chocolate macaroon (which had the coconut filling in the middle.) They were AWESOME. Haven't seen these in years though.

I LOVED the chocolate macaroon as well. When I was a teen (70's), I bought my own bundt pan because I intended to bake those cakes forever. I wish they would bring them back.

I was 6 or 7yrs old when Bundt Cakes came out. My absolute favorite was the Raspberry Ripple Bundt Cake. My mom kept them in our chest freezer in the garage. When they discontinued it, I made my mom keep the last Raspberry Ripple in her freezer for a special occasion! Well, needless to say, it made it to the bottom of that freezer and I am now 42! Last year, she decided to get rid of the freezer and everything in it!!! I am now the proud owner of a 1970's Pillsbury Raspberry Ripple Bundt Cake Mix still unopened in the box! I have considered e-bay or even baking it!!! Not sure what I will do with it! I am willing to sell it back to the Pillsbury Co. so they can check the formula and re-create it!!!!!!!

Debbi, the chocolate macaroon was the best selling of all the bundt cake mixes. You can still buy it through Nordic Ware. http://www.nordicware.com/store/categories/browse/bundt-gourmet-cake-mixes/EFCD6B5C-4975-102A-B382-0002B3267AD7/page/1 Lisa, I wouldn't open the box. The mix probably isn't good after all those years, and an unopened box is like a time capsule from the 70's. Someone would probably pay big $$$ for it. Try to keep it in the best condition possible.

Debbi, I remember those chocolate macaroon cakes also. And recently emailed pillsbury to see if they still made these or would ever bring them back. they emailed me a reply and said the product i was inquiring about was now produced by the j.m.smucker co. good luck finding it, i searched several sites and found nothing. just thought you might want to know. thanks tammy p.

Nordic Ware web site has bundt cake mixes to sell. Cooks.com has many recipes from scratch for bundt cakes. We sell a revised bundt cake with a twist which is the best cake ever but can't tell you about it here. Be creative. Adapt. You can do it.
JEANETTE FOX - January 29, 2010 - Report this comment
I remember the pilsbury bundt cakes. they had a tunnel of fudge, and the chocolate macaroon was absolutely the best. One reader said they discontinued them because of price? I find that hard to believe. If so many people like them, i don't see how price would be that relevant, besides, how much more does it cost to manufacture a bundt from a regular? From what i gather from all these comments they would sell very good. I'd pay a little more, because they were worth it. besides, you'll pay anywhere from 6 to 12 dollars for a already made cake, seems like a no brainer to me. Probably some idiot in marketing who has too much time on his hands, decided to discontinue their bestselling cakes.

IT'S SO GOOD TO HEAR FROM EVERYONE ELSE! I GREW UP IN THE 70'S WITH MY GRANDMOTHER MAKING THE CHOCOLATE MACAROON! I MISS THAT SO MUCH. I, too, have been searching for a Bundt cake mix to no avail. I have asked at 2 local groc stores & they are going to try to find them. Hopefully if they get enough requests they will make them again. A friend in OH emailed that her Pick N Save groc store has them. Why do they sell Bundt cake pans & not the cake mixes? They certainly don't think we are going to make these things from scratch, do they? LOL

My favorite was the Boston Creme Bundt cake mix. I think it was make by Pillsbury. It was a yellow bundt cake with some kind of vanilla pudding or creme in the center and then chocolate drizzled on top. I'm hoping to create something similar with a couple of recipes I found and baker's bavarian creme for the center.

I cannot begin to express how much I LOVED the Chocolate Macaroon Bundt cake as a child growing up in the 70's. They were absolutely HEAVENLY, and I hate making boxed cakes (I'm a total scratch baker normally). Luckily, I found several sites online that have Bundt cake recipes, including the Macaroon. I tried it, and it was *almost* as good as the original. PILLSBURY, BRING THEM BACK!!! Please!

Does anyone remember a cake that came out in the 70's that was a flat fluted pan that had a shallow well for fillings. You had to buy the special pan that was included and then could buy the cake mixes with fillings after that. I can't remember what they were called but I remember they were very popular at the time. Please help me if anyone else remembers these.

I remember the fluted pans from the 80's they were round and shallow, the mix came with a cake that you baked and it fluted out around the edges,.. when you flipped it upside down there was a shallow circle to put in a topping. YUM! I want a chocolate bundt with caramel! Yummmy!!

I learned that Pillsbury doesn't make the Bundt cake mixes anymore. What a shame. I loved them, especially the Chocolate with the Macroon (coconut) in the center. I finally found a recipe for it on http://busycooks.about.com/od/cakerecipes/r/chocobundtcake.htm If you go to busycooks.com & look around you can probably find it w/o typing all this. I have tried several recipes I gathered from online for the Chocolate Macaroon Bundt cake...taste is great but coconut filling doesn't sink to the right level like the old mix, or the chocolate seeps into it, not keeping the white coconut center distinct. I really wish Pillsbury would revive these mixes or at least release the proper recipe.

It is the Anniversary of the Bundt Cake. I recently ordered a New Bundt Cake Pan and the dome shaped Cake Cover. I have search several stores in my area for the old Bundt Cake Mixes. I can not seem to find them anywhere. I contacted a Bakeware Company, who has the Bundt Cake Mixes. $11 per box! There has got to be a cheaper cake mix. For that price, that cake better be READY to EAT!

I was married in the 70's and used the bundt pan to make a Bacardi Rum cake and still do. You use a yellow "pudding in the mix" cake mix, nut mixture in bottom before batter. Rum glaze drizzled forever on top so whole cake absorbed it.

I GAVE THEM MY STORY (SEE ABOVE 11/9/08) AND SHE PROMISED TO SEND IT UP THE CHAIN TO REQUEST IT BE CONSIDERED TO RETURN ON THE MARKET. MAYBE IF WE ALL CALLED THIS 800 # (800-767-4466) AND LET THEM KNOW HOW MUCH WE MISS THEM, THEY WILL LISTEN AND BRING THEM BACK! ALSO, NORDIC WARE IS ADVERTISING THEIR 65TH ANNIVERSARY AND FIRST BUNDT PANS MADE OVER 60 YRS AGO. MAYBE THIS COULD BE A COLLABORATIVE EFFORT ON NORDIC WARE AND SMUCKERS/PILLSBURY'S PART! I'M SURE WE COULD CONVINCE THEM TO MAKE A FEW OLD FAVORITES FOR THE SHELVES IN HONOR OF THEIR LONGTIME PARTNERSHIP!!! I have looked for the Chocolate Macaroon for years now and have never been able to find it. I still go down the cake isle in the stores just in case it should one day reappear. I can not figure out how to make the white coconut filling thats on the inside. The Chocolate Fudge is good too but alittle rich. https://www.hersheys.com/recipes/recipe-details.aspx?id=4754&name=Black-Magic-Cakehttp://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/first-place-coconut-macaroons Here is the secret. Make the batter for the Black Magic Cake Make the batter for the macaroon cookies Pour half the cake batter into your bundt pan Very carefully drop the macaroon batter by teaspoon fulls on top of the cake batter in the middle being careful not to touch the edges Pour the rest of the cake batter on top and bake at 350 until toothpick or straw inserted in the center comes out clean. Timing might vary so after 30 minutes give a look. Baking time for me is about 45 to 50 minutes in a 12 cup bundt pan. Also remember that it is a scratch cake so handle with care while baking so it doesn't collapse. After it is finished baking, let it cool in the pan for about 15 minutes and then turn it upside down on a platter. Glaze with powdered sugar and milk mixture and you will have your perfect chocolate macaroon cake.

I too remember fondly the Chocolate macaroon Bundt from Pillsbury. I dream of it now that I'm an old geezer. I'm thinkin' that the Bundt style cakes were withdrawn from the market due to their reliance on trans fats as a key ingredient to preventing the filling from absorbing chocolate and to make it attain a proper level in the middle of the cake itself. Damn those trans fats. Now they're gone-they took all the fun away- well, at least or hearts are healthy! Thanks for the memories folks. Gus

to make the chocolate macaroon bundt cake use chocolate fudge cake mix fill about 1/2 full I have never measured, for the macaroon filling use white cake mix add coconut pour about 2 cups of this on top of the fudge cake mix already in the pan, I guess to what looks about right & make cup cakes with the remaining batter. after it cools you can add chocolate glaze over it.

The black Forrest bundt cake was AMAZING and my favorite. It became part of our celebrations (birthdays and holidays) and it was an instant smile when everyday "teenage" life was unbearable. Now that I am a mother I SO wish that I could make it for my daughter. I have attempted to make this using canned cherries and Betty Crockers fun da middle....NOT THE SAME...please, please, please bring back this cake and/or Pillsbury pudding pockets so that we can continue this tradition with our children, and they can pass it on to theirs. Life is about memories and this was one on my fondest.

Pillsbury brought back the Tunnel of Fudge for a while under the Supreme Collection with a different name--Fudge Truffle. Unfortunately, the last boxes of the mix that I found were at a Grocery Outlet. I've been to pillsburybaking.com, and no mention of any of these mixes (there were two or three others, one involving red velvet), so they might not be making them anymore (again!). I'm waiting for a response to an e-mail I sent them earlier, but don't expect one for a few days, since it _is_ Sunday.

This forum proves that the bundt cakes are still in demand. C'mon Pillsbury, would you puh-leeze start selling the mixes again? Pretty please. My mouth is watering just reminiscing about the coconut macaroon flavor. Yum!

As a kid I LOVED baking. I turned out my first perfect jelly roll from scratch when I was 11! But one of my favorite things were the buddy cake mixes. I remember the 3 pouches in the box- I think the had numbers on them 1-3. The cake, the filling and the glaze. Like most mixes you could follow the standard directions or try the variation recipe. One Valentines Day I tried the variate on the Chocolate Macaroon Mix: add chopped maraschino cherries to the Macaroon filling and bake as usual. Substitute the maraschino juice for the water in the glaze. It was a huge hit. It was so pretty with the pink filling in the dark chocolate cake with pink icing on top and dripping down the fluted sides. I am 50 this year and I think of that cake often! YEAH, PULLSBURY BRING THEM BACK!!

i loved the pillbury chocolate macaroon bundt cake. My mom made it when I was growing up. I have great childhood memories about that cake. I wonder if I used devil's food cake mix and added coconut extract to white cake mix for the middle, if it would resemble the old chocolate macaroon bundt cake. Probably not....

The Pineapple Supreme was the ultimate -- the shredded pineapple on the top, the moist cake throughout and that cream center just took this cake to the absolute top.

I miss the tropical and the chocolate ones and would buy them in a heartbeat if they became available again. I also loved the flan truffle mixes with the special pan. Those were perfect for special occasions. They looked so fancy, and made your guests feel you had been in the kitchen creating for hours. I can't reme

Wow, I can't believe there are so many people who, like me, miss those bundt cake mixes. As some on here have also said, the lemon blueberry was my absolute favorite. And in answer to someone's question, I absolutely DO remember the tunnel of lemon cake. It was good, too, but still my fav of all of them was the lemon blueberry. I also wish Pillsbury would bring those mixes back.

I loved the Chocolate Macaroon Cake so much that I saved the back panel/ ingredients list off of the last one that I purchased back in the day. I will post the panel on the Pinterest Board Hunting for Pillsbury Chocolate Macaroon Cake Recipe. Please post here and on Pinterest if you have the ingredients list from another flavor! I have come up with a recipe very close, but not exact. The ingredients are as follows: Sugar, Bleached enriched flour (bleached flour, niacin, iron, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin), hydrogenated soybean oil, cocoa processed with alkali to enhance flavor and color, coconut (color protected with sodium bisulfite), modified tapioca starch, dextrose, baking powder (baking soda, sodium acid pyrophosphate, sodium aluminum phosphate, monocalcium phosphate) to make cake rise, propylene gycol esters of fatty acids, mono- and diglycerides, natural and artificial flavor, salt, corn starch, soy protein concentrate, soy flour, wheat starch, nonfat milk, xanthan gum, lecithin, cellulose gum, polysorbate 80, artificial color and FD&C red #40.

I used to make the black forest cherry and the chocolate mousse Bundt cakes. Wish you would bring back these mixes. If not can you send recipes. The cake is the easy part but don't know what to use for the chocolate mousse filling or the white filling in the black forest.

As a young mother (early 70s) my aunt & uncle would come and babysit. I always made the bundt cakes for them and they loved it. I wasn't, and still am not, a baker--but with these mixes they always turned out perfect. I remember the strussel swirls and the chocolate macaroon. Have looked for them in supermarket and haven't seen it in ages. Was going through OLD recipes and saw an old ad. Hope they bring these back!!!

Yup! My mom made the cinnamon strusel bundt cake too! It was so good! She made it all the time for her Sarah Coventry jewelry parties and then later for Home Interiors parties...now that's 1970's! My bro also got Tunnel of Fudge bundt cake for his birthday cake...yum!

Every year I visit this site and hope to hear that the bundt cake mixes are back on the market. I miss these cakes so much! It seems almost cruel to introduce us to a dessert that is so wonderful and then take it away. I know it would be expensive but surely not more than a cake from a bakery that is half as yummy.

I also loved the chocolate macaroon Bundt cake, in the 90's I moved to my current town and found a Pillsbury cookbook at the local library THAT HAD THE ORIGINAL RECIPE! My dad made it for years for my birthday, after he passed my teenage son started making it for me.
