Description
These were cake like squares that came 6-10 in a box, with 2 each in a foil lined package. Devils food like cakes with a chocolate creme in the middle and a light layer of chocolate on them like you find on the outside of a swiss miss roll. I had these for breakfast in the mid seventies. I can't remember who made them.

Indeed they were General Mills/Betty Crocker. Flavors I remember besides the above were Cinnamon, Maple and Chocolate Malt. They were gone in 2 days- we devoured them, and mom was mad

Oh my god, I lust after these things! No one I know knew what I was talking about. I wish they'd bring them back.

They were Carnation Breakfast Squares

Carnation Instant Breakfast (flavored powder to add to milk w/ added nutrients) came first; this was a solid version of the same "complete breakfast" concept. On the box it said "Hi-Protein"; my Dad wrote his own comment on the box, "Lo-Flavor."

I remember carnation breakfast squares...i remember sitting at the counter every morning before school..very sleepy..listening to the radio..(which usually was playing one ABBA song or another) and eating my breakfast squares...at one point they improved the flavor..but i always loved them...wish they still made them

Carnation did make breakfast bars in the 70's (they were a little like balance bars sold today) Breakfast squares were different (but also good). The chocolate ones were somewhat like a chocolate coated brownie.

The thing I remember the most is they were very dry tasting.
