Astro-Pops were the best candy from the 70's. The lolly pop lasted forever and tasted better then anything. You used to be able to get them on-line but the company stopped making them a few years ago. Visit the site and ask them to bring them back! Odd note: if you buy Bed Head straight shampoo (it's green) it smells like Astro-pops!

now we're talking....astropops. Was there a visit to the zip mart in the mid 70s that didn't involve one of these? yes, they'd rip your fillings out...but they were classic of this era...down to the strange wax base that you couldn't avoid engaging with at some point. VERY MOD.

I remember an all-blue Astro Pop that was vanilla flavor, as well as the multi-colored ones. So good!

I loved these things. I would see how sharp I could get the ends. I am really saddened that they stopped making this candy. I was looking on the internet to find some and I was dishearted when I saw that they no longer make them. I grew up on these. I hope they change there minds and bring it back. I wanted to show my kids what I have been talking about all these years...

OMG. I loved AstroPops. One of my dear childhood friends and I would walk out to a little mom-and-pop grocery store not too far from our houses for these -- at the time, Mr. O was the only one who carried them. When he closed his store, the nearby convenience store started stocking them. The two of us going to Mr. O's store for these is one of my more treasured memories -- not only are AstroPops no more, but my friend passed away a few years back too. Oh my..... AstroPops.

I'm really sad that they discontinued Astro Pops because my mom grew up on them and I would love to know what she was talking about. I really wish I could get her some for her birthday.

These were the best candies EVER! I have been on the hunt for these for a couple of years. Just tring to find someone that has some old stock to get my fix, but they all seem to be gone. I have contacted the Spangler Company several times via E-mail but nothing. They told me that there are NO plans to bring them back in the future. Maybe if we can get enough people to contact the company maybe they will see there is still a market for them. Get friends and family to also contact the company and hopefully we can get Spangler to bring them back. Astro Pops were such a big part of my childhood, I just wish they could be a part of my childrens childhood also!

Astro-Pops go back to 1963 in the El Segundo area of Los Angeles. Original company was Nellson's (acquired by Spangler 30 years ago). Two men who created the rocket candy product were inspired amidst the U.S.-U.S.S.R Space Race.
