Description
Apple Beer came out to the best of my memory around the early or late 70's and was made by the Fairmount company out of Nebraska. It was great, it had a wonderful apple cider taste but richly carbonated, much like Martinelli's sparkling cider today, but with more carbonation and flavor. Boy, do I miss it!

I remember buying Apple Beer in the 70's from a corner store called Katie's in South Buffalo. It was quite tasty. Unfortunately is was not on their shelves for long. I do miss it and I did enjoy it. Anyone know where to get it locally?

The first time I saw it was around 1966 in Dallas, TX. I really liked the stuff, but I haven't seen it at all in 30 years or so. I was surprised to see it for sale online, but I was not surprised by the prices.

As a young teenager, I used to buy apple beer thinking it was the only legit brand of beer I could get without being carded. I surely miss the wonderful apple flavored soda.

I used to buy Apple Beer when I was teen in the early 1980's in a Quick Mart joint in Palm Harbor/Ozona, FL when it was transitioning from rebel outpost to uppity Yankee folk. I have not seen sine 1985. (Would love to find some)

Apple Beer was available in 1967-69 (at least) in the 7-11 Stores in Winter Park and in Orlando Florida. It tasted like apple juice and ginger ale mixed. However trying the mix myself, it never tasted the same. At the time, I thought it was real beer and wouldn't buy it until I was told it was only a soft drink. I didn't care about beer and Apple Beer was my favorite- ALL TIME FAVORITE.

I also grew up with Apple Beer in the 70's. It was wonderful. I purchased a case last week from the company in Utah, and am returning it today. It is not at all like the Apple Beer that the Fairmont Company made. This is very watered down and does not have near the carbonation. Don't waste your money if you are wanting to re create the taste of the past.

When my family traveled to Missouri for the family reunions.. my father would stop at a gas station and buy us kids apple beer... so we could be like him. It was pretty cool. That was in the late 60's early 70's and a great memory. I was looking it up to see if its still being sold any place.

I lived in NE Atlanta in 1970 and the neighborhood kids would walk to the 7-11 store by Northeast Plaza and that's where I first drank Apple Beer. I thought it was the best thing I'd ever tasted. It was definitely a refreshingly and unique taste.

It's awesome to see how many people still cherish the products of our youth. Personally, I still rank apple beer up there with chic o' stick coconut/peanut butter candy from early 80's. My cousins and I used to go to Jim Allen's corner store in Brevard County, Florida to get apple beer and then go down to the Indian river to watch the space shuttle launches and go fishing. Might have to go find this new version of the apple beer just for nostalgia's sake.

My father, Robert Joslin, was the food scientist who invented Apple Beer. He worked for Fairmont Foods in Omaha. I remember being a guinea pig and drinking versions of it. Soon after, he left the company and started working for Coke. I stumbled across this site because I was looking for things that reminded me of my childhood for my pinterest board!

Funny Story about Apple Beer as a 11 year old. I kept hearing the jingle promoting it and could not wait to buy a can. Lived in middle of nowhere Iowa. Finally a case showed up at the local grocery. I purchased a can and hurried home on my Schwinn bike and ran into the kitchen and announced, " I have Apple Beer" opened the can and proceeded to shoot the product onto our new lowered kitchen ceiling, it even had sparkles in it. My Mom was pissed deluxe. There is no telling how shook up it was due the excitement of procuring such a find! Will never forget.

As a kid I would buy that at the "Sunflower" grocery store by my house in Tupelo, MS. We loved it but because it had the word "beer" on it my mother would not allow us to drink it.... I guess someone may mistake it for real beer and it would reflect bad on her. I started looking for some after tasting "Sprite Cranberry" during the holiday. The taste was very similar. Any way, it seems a company in Utah is making an Apple Beer but some say it taste nothing like the old '70 variety. Maybe one day I'll find something that taste like the good ole days.

Mom would buy this stuff when we were living in New Mexico in the late 60's. Probably reminded her of Apfelschorle from Germany. Great for those miserable hot days. Looked like beer but tasted like a crisp Granny Smith (not too sweet). By the time we came to CA it had almost disappeared. If you live near Los Angeles try Galcos in Highland Park...but I'm going to try the website. Thanks!

There used to be a small healthfood store in Lincoln Nebraska called Peanut Hill that carried Apple beer and cherry beer. It was always a treat to be able to get to have a can of these delicious beverages. I grew up on a sugar restricted diet to manage my adhd so it was something I looked forward to ever so much. I have never forgotten the experience of a cold can of goodness. I miss it very much and hope to locate some and lose myself in nostalgia.

my teenage uncle introduced me to it. I thought I was so grown up drinking it. But has always been hard to find. Drank something recently that reminded me of the taste so I went searching the internet. Turns out it is still out there, even a diet version. bottled in Utah. so go check it out.

Yes Apple Beer was great! I was born in 1966 so as a kid in Oregon and then Washington State I clearly recall loving this and the look of the can. Just like I used to have Kaboom or Quisp cereal. It is one of those things that reminds me of being a kid which was a great time for me. And it was before computers and video games. Not that technology is bad as it took me two seconds to find this page about Apple Beer. I know what it tastes like so if I buy some I will know if it is like the original. Someone mentioned Martinellies sparkling cider which is close and a great product along with their apple juice in the glass containers that are apple sbaped.

I remember the commercial with that same jingle. It claimed that the drink was brewed in Germany from Apples grown in "sunny Italy". I guess this was as early as 1967 or 68. It would be expensive to import today since a dollar is not worth 10 DM any more. Of course American advertisements back then were allowed to be pretty loose with the truth. I liked the flavor but for some reason it would keep me running to the bathroom. After drinking it I had to stay close to home for at least 12 hours.

Depends on which part of the country you're in. You can contact by e-mail at applebeer.com, or write to P.O. box 17019, Holladay, Utah, 84117. Being a near beer, you need not be 21. Any of today's courier services should deliver with little problem. Apple Beer was first canned in 1964 in Utah. Cans were mostly tin with aluminum soft top, either punch top or pull tab.
