That wet look stuff was really in about 1969-70, when you could even get wet look miniskirts and vests, too. It was a vinyl so glossy it looked like it was coated in a thin film of water or cellophane. I had a wet look vest in a dark brown python skin print about that time, but mostly you saw it in boots and shoes.

Got a pair of wet look white gogo boots for Christmas in '72..loved them!!!! Oh, then got a red wet look pocketbook....the material sort of just peeled apart after a few months :-(

I had a pair of these, they were horrible, and if you wore them with tights they used gradually to pull the tights down! I also had a truly hideous bright red wet look midi coat, which my mother bought for me and which I loathed (I was very much into the "hippy" thing and natural fibres!).

Weren't these also called "Shim Shams"? They were a thin vinyl material that went up your leg which you wore with shoes of the same color. It made it appear as though you were wearing boots.

I remember seeing them in the JC Penney and Montgomery Wards catalogs.

When I went to High School in the early 70's, I used to wear a pair of black shiny rubber boots that went up to mid-calf. Some of the girls used to fold the tops down if they had bigger calves.
