We always called the big heeled cork shoes wedges and wore them with mini's, denim skirts, shorts, whatever. They were the one heel you could wear with shorts without looking like you were trying to impress. You could also take dressy bottoms or a flashy dress and make them more casual for daywear by wearing wedges with them. Still popular today.

We called them Cork heels, because a lot of them are made out of it, but they are wedge shaped. They're about 3-4 inches high and still popular today. I agree with Janelle, you can dress down a fancier dress or outfit with them or dress up a casual oufit and still be comfortable and looking good for the day.

Cork or Cork with wood sandals, leather or macrame straps, and in a more innocent time, we actually called them wedgies.
