i thought a sizzle dress was hot in 1974-5

Definitely 1971-72. Mini skirts were around before and after, but the Sizzle Dress had a very short (get it? ;-) lifespan.

I wore them too! Would have been 71-72. Caused a car accident once wearing one. As I remember, mine were red, white and blue polyester. My boss used to call me "Legs" when I wore them to work.

They were adorable!-----at least when you bent over and you accidentally 'flashed'you'd only show the cute matching material panties----not your underwear! we wore them with pantyhose underneath, and big heeled shoes or platforms, usually the big white plastic looking high heels Oh, and Sizzler dresses usually always had the big oversize pointy collars (white) and puffed sleeves. A little 'innocence' in those puffy sleeves to counter the sexiness of the short short dress maybe?!

I can remember 1 girl waring a Sizzler DRess on compass at Duquesne Univ. in Pittsburgh! She was skinny, long legged & nice Knoker!

I was just looking this up as have been reminiscing with an old high school friend. I am 56 now and wore this sizzle dress when I was 16-17.. so about 71-72 for sure! My mum made it for me and it was gorgeous.. hot pink tiny flowers, polyester satin knit sort of fabric.. and those cute matching bikini undies! The dress part had short puffy sleeve I think and it had v neck or scoop neck.. and was swirly. very cute! I loved wearing it and so did the guys I went to school with. I had the figure then and the legs!! Sadly.. not sure when they disappeared! lol

There was a recent post on here that inferred that a sizzle dress was a "hot pants/shirt" combination-never heard of that before! Always was a very short dress with matching panties ;sure wish they were still around!

My granddaughter is a Sr. this year and was talking about what to wear under her gown I said I wore a Sizzler under mine she laughed and said what was that I said a dress I will show you pictures,mine was red and white and I wore white platforms with the heel and toe out and they laced up,and I WAS HOT LOL she has gone to the post office but as soon as she gets back I will show her the pictures (:

I can recall a friend wearing a sizzle dress under her graduation gown because of the hot nite-she said several other girls did also. Wish I could have been there!

I remember seeing a sizzle dress being sold in K-Mart that had three pieces to it! It had the regular dress and matching panty along with a maching skimpy top,sort of like a bra.It looked pretty neat,sure would liked to have seen it on someone,Anybody else remember these?

I wore them from the early to mid 70s they where so cute I have told my daughter in law about them we googled sizzler dresses she could not beleave how short they where. They say Im still a little bit hippy and I am broud to say yes I am had a great time. That little dress was a big part of it I had six dresses. My boyfriend then my now husband for 38 years. really liked them

My mother made me a sizzler - polyester floral with long bell sleeves, v-neck, and really short! Matching panties underneath. I'm still shocked that she made that for me.

Hi to all sizzle dress fans-Another summer and not a sizzle dress to be seen! Does anyone have any sizzle dress pictures to share? Sure would like to view some. Remember a sizzler had matching panties under the very short dress.

Just thought about them. I loved them! So cute, but so short, I can't believe my parents let me wear it! I'm 56. It was definitely hot in the 70s. But so was I! Memories are great.

And another year without a sizzle dress to be seen! I sure hope they will return soon. Please somebody relate a story about them! Girls with nice legs shouldn't feel bad about showing them off. Here's hoping for an answer.

Been noticing that a lot of girls are wearing pants under a top that looks like a sizzler dress .I guess they are too modest to wear a sizzler!

Was just looking at a lot of sizzler dresses ,go to Thailand and there are a lot of them .Be aware there are a lot of very short dresses to be seen but now and then a definite sizzler can be seen.

Well it’s 2021 and the girls are wearing the shortest dresses ever...but they don’t have the cute matching panties we had under ours😁

Agree with those saying 71-72. I wore them about then, as well. Maybe into summer of 73, but certainly no later. I've seen recent ads for "sizzle skirts" as they were called, not sizzler skirts, but the ones now don't have anything under them. It matters because the garment we wore underneath was not at all see through or provocative. In fact, it was specifically made to be plenty of coverage. It was a brief rather than a bikini, not made to show it off in any way. I'm can't imagine wearing pantyhose under them as someone mentioned. We mostly wore them in spring and summer. Talking about hot pants though as someone brought up, I remember wearing those with tights or colored pantyhose and boots. We sure thought we were something. LOL
