Description: These were just long enough to cover your bum, and were made of (usually royal blue or red) satin with white trim that ran up the sides of the shorts. I actually wore these once while doing a tap dance to the "Mane Event" theme song!

Where I lived in the late 70s, we called these gym shorts and they were really popular. They got really short at the very end of the 70s, sometimes slit on the side to show even more skin.

It was the 70's and into the 80's when they were popular. They were sporty fun & satin sexy but they got really short during the late 70's, and when you bent over, your cheeks would show. That was the style though and no one really thought about it.
