Description: There were coats in the 70's called maxi and midi coats. They were usually wool winter coats. The maxi coat was like the maxi dress long and to the floor. The midi coat usually was a couple of inches below the knee. Not many girls had them; I was 1 of 3 girls in my 5th grade class who was lucky enough to have a maxi coat.

Okay,I had the best "maxi"/"mini coat . It had a zipper so you could go either way! You could remove the bottom and make it shorter and put the bottom back on when you were wearing an ankle length"granny dress".

I had a great "midi-coat" in the 70's - blue plaid with gold buttons, trimmed in "fur" along the bottom and sleeves! I wish they would make them today - they were pretty cool.

The Maxi coat sometimes had a soft tie belt but usually had a high waisted (hard- plastic- covered with the material of the coat wide 2+" belt)with belt loops and a big buckle in front-- This actually accentuated the long length of the coat-- and it looked really cool with big high platform shoes and a mini skirt underneathe- when you walked a glimpse of leg would come out! Tres chic and sexy in the 70's! My MAXIcoat was plaid!!
