Came out in the 60's.I remember when I was 8. My 2 sisters and I each got a pair. Our's were white. We put them on and walked down the street side by side.Boy were we proud. Those were the day's.

These were the ankle-high white boots made of leather that zipped up in the back or on the side and were worn with a skirt or dress. They became popular about 1965 and were the beginning of the popularity of women's fashion boots that has continued to the present. Girl dancers on the TV music shows of the mid-1960's used to wear them.

Like the earlier comments say, these were more of a 60s style than a 70s style (except at the very end of the 70s when a 60s Mod revival overtook bands like The B52s, The Go Gos, The Modettes, The Revilloes, The Bodysnatchers, and several others). I've noticed that lots of people tend to call any woman's boot from the 60s or 70s go go boots, but, like the above comments say, in the 70s that term was only applied to the sort of majorette-looking, flat, lower-calf-height boots of the mid-60s, when the term, go go, was popular. The knee-high stretch boots worn in the late 60s and early 70s we just called "boots."

My girl friend GiGi and I had them in the late sixties. We both where so crazy over the Monkees and we would pretend we where GoGo dancers.

My wife still has her white, back-zip gogo boots.

I loved my white go-go boots and wore them with hot pants or a short skirt. I thought they were the hottest thing going until I saw a little old lady wearing them one day and could never get into them again. I still like them, they look great on professional cheerleaders or younger women, but not on mothers, which is me now.

I had a black patent leather pair my mom ordered from the Montgomery Ward catalog. They had the laces on the front and zippers on the inside.

Probably, the nearest thing to go-go boots now (and in recent years) are white cowgirl boots; especially if they are worn with a skirt or dress (so you can see them).

I always wanted to go on a date with a girl who was wearing go-go boots.

I had a pair of black ones, just to be different from everyone else, who wore white ones. 4th grade, 1966.

A lot of pro cheerleaders wear the white go-go boots as part of their uniforms.

This 60's look is great even to wear today. I buy Vintage and love wearing it, white short back zips and all. As long as it is tastefully done and not looking like a Halloween costume your good to go. Have fun wearing these classic looks. As my friend said once... be true to your self!

I remember when they were called "fashion boots" back in the 70s.
