I had fake Earth Shoes from Thom McAnn. Couldn't affrod the real ones. But they were very comfortable.I bought my son the real thing from Ebay, recently, still in the box. Funny thing is, they look a lot like today's popular shoes!

I remember these from high school, most of the kids bought the Thom McAnn ones. Only girls wore 'em, usually with jeans, and almost never with a skirt or dress.

I had the Thom McAnn earth shoes as well. I loved them! Very comfy. I remember alot of shoes with that style. I was a cheerleader in junior high and our shoes looked like earth saddleshoes.

I had a "real" pair and I think I saw an ad (I believe in Mother Earth News) selling them again. These are the ones with the toe higher than the heel and sooooo comfortable. You can get something labeled "earth shoes" at Walmart but they aren't real earth shoes. One of these days I'm going to part with the money and send away for a pair.

I had the Thom McAnn ones too - the Mary Jane kind with the buckles and straps.

My sister wore these all the time. Has anyone seen the new Sketchers exercise shoes? It's the same concept of a lower heel and higher toe area.

I remember sitting in the back seat of the school bus with my leg stretched out and a girl said "you got gas!". I paused knowing I hadn't passed wind and then realized she was talking about my Earth Shoes. Kinney's Shoe Store was known as the Great American Shoe Store and G.A.S.S. was imprinted on the bottom of their Earth Shoes. What a laugh...what a decade!!!

I never could bring myself to spend the money for a real pair of Earth Shoes but when I discovered a pair of knockoffs in a light brown color with MASSIVE RIPPLE SOLES I grabbed them immediately. The soles were amazing and something I had never seen on a pair of shoes before--deep tan ripples at least 1/2 inch deep. They were a very hard rubber so they dug into anything I walked over, and with such cool soles you can believe I walked on anything! I loved treading through mud in them, leaving my deep impressions, so that people would see them. I stepped on so many things with them.
