Description

Type of clothing:
When it was popular:
Description: Worn by the female population, typically with a wrap around skirt. To me it resembled a swimsuit, fairly tightfitting (sometimes not allot left to the imagination). If I remember correctly it became popular in the mid to late 70's and into the early 80's.

These were very popular among the disco set in the mid-1970s. You'd wear a Danskin leotard in any style (off-the-shoulder or criss-cross was best) and get the matching wrap-skirt. These came in solids and black with color swooshes. Mine was black with swooshes of red and blue. We were not allowed to wear these to school as they were too revealing even though the skirt was closer to midi-length! I think it was just too tight in the top!

We called them Body Suits and our school let you wear them. They only looked good if you were really skinny!

I had leotards, but I broke out in a rash from the Danskins.

Man...nothing like a Danskin and a wrap skirt on a lithe lady! Middle school was great. I wish this would make a lasting comeback...!
