Yep these were all the rage the bigger the cowl neck the better! They were so much more comfortable than tight turtle neck sweaters!

I remember these being really popular in thin, earth-tone stripes from about 1974 to 1978. My mom had several and wore them with tiered peasant skirts and those 70s boots that looked like high-heeld riding boots. My little brother thought they were called cow-necks.
